Ripple widened its institutional push on several fronts on October 27. BNY is adding XRP and the RLUSD stablecoin to its institutional custody platform, The Block reported. The bank already serves as RLUSD’s primary reserve custodian and has a custody relationship with Ripple Prime. BNY clients will also be able to mint and redeem RLUSD directly through the bank.
The partners will explore tokenized trade finance on the XRP Ledger. Together with C2FO, a working capital provider, they are testing financing against approved supplier invoices. Suppliers could receive funds within seconds instead of waiting several days for bank transfers, with capital providers funding the payments while existing invoice terms and due dates stay the same. Ripple president Monica Long said the next step is making tokenized assets “usable for payments and collateral across financial markets.” No launch date was given for the custody services or the trade finance applications.
Ripple also partnered with Robinhood on stablecoins, treasury operations and institutional markets. RLUSD is already available on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp by Robinhood and will reach the Robinhood app later this year, while Robinhood will use RLUSD for institutional settlement on the XRP Ledger and integrate Ripple Treasury. RLUSD has a market capitalization of about $2.5 billion since its December 2024 launch, with more than $1 billion issued on the XRP Ledger, which has processed over 4.6 billion transactions with settlement in three to five seconds, according to Ripple.
Separately, Ripple has added AI agents to Ripple Treasury, the former GTreasury business it agreed to buy for $1 billion in October 2025. According to IBTimes, the GSmart agents can monitor corporate cash, liquidity and risk and recommend actions, but a person must approve any action that moves or commits money. Financial calculations come from conventional software rather than a generative model, proposed actions are checked against company policy before an employee sees them, and AI interactions are logged. Ripple’s Renaat Ver Eecke said the aim is that “humans remain in control of every decision.”
Together the announcements show Ripple building out custody, trade finance and treasury tools, though the reports give no timeline for most of them. This is news, not investment advice.
