22 issuers object to OKX-ICE tokenized stocks

22 Companies Block OKX-ICE Tokenized Trading While the SEC Puts Tokenization on Its 2027 Exam List

Six more companies have objected to the OKX-ICE plan to trade tokenized versions of their shares, bringing the total to 22. Cisco, Wells Fargo, Marvell, Arm, Intuit and Moderna were added in the venue’s October 23 notice. Microsoft, Alphabet, Goldman Sachs and McDonald’s had objected earlier.

OKXICE is a joint venture of the exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange, the parent of the NYSE. It plans blockchain trading of tokenized shares through Uniswap liquidity pools on OKX’s X Layer chain, settled in stablecoins. Under the SEC’s new framework, issuers get 30 days after a venue’s notice to object, and an objection blocks trading only on that venue. Andrew Cuomo, a co-chairman, called the objections expected and the project “a sandbox.” Not all objectors were on the original roster of 62 companies.

The same week, the SEC released its fiscal 2027 examination priorities. Tokenization is new on the list and is described as an “emerging market risk,” while examiners will also look at it in clearing agencies and under Regulation SCI alongside AI, extended trading hours and quantum computing. Cryptocurrencies are not a standalone priority for a second year in a row.

Taken together, the objections and the exam focus show that large issuers want a say before their shares appear on blockchain venues, and that regulators are watching the infrastructure closely. Opposition to this venue is not opposition to tokenization itself. This is news, not investment advice.
