U.S. spot bitcoin ETFs have not stopped bleeding. After a $635.6 million outflow on October 22, the largest since June 25, BlackRock’s IBIT lost another $110.3 million on October 23, according to SoSoValue data cited by 24/7 Wall St. Fidelity’s FBTC added $31.8 million of outflows on Friday after losing $217.5 million the day before.
Thursday’s selling was concentrated. IBIT and FBTC together accounted for about 74% of the day’s total, while ARKB lost $109.4 million, GBTC $29.5 million and BITB $27.4 million. The outflow ended a three-day inflow streak.
The bigger picture is less negative. The week ending October 22 still showed a net inflow of $442.7 million, against net outflows of $228.6 million the week before. Third-quarter inflows reached $6.3 billion, and cumulative net inflows stand at $57.3 billion with $104.7 billion in net assets, of which IBIT holds about $65.8 billion.
Price has followed the flows. Bitcoin closed near $84,025 on October 21, fell to $81,307 on October 22 and traded near $80,483 on Saturday morning. That is about 36% below the all-time high of $126,080, although still up 23.4% over 90 days.
The 24/7 Wall St author concludes that the selling does not look finished, and names one indicator: whether ETF flows turn positive in the week of October 26. The Fed meeting on October 28 is the main event in that window.
