DTCC Tokenization Service Goes Live With 20 Participants Including J.P. Morgan and Citi

The Depository Trust Company (DTC), a DTCC subsidiary, has launched the DTCC Tokenization Service (DTS), according to DTCC’s announcement. The service mints tokenized representations of assets held in DTC custody, which exceeds $114 trillion.

Twenty DTC participants have signed agreements to use it, including J.P. Morgan, Citi, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Fidelity Investments, UBS, State Street, Citadel Securities and BNP Paribas. The service was developed with more than 150 firms in the DTC Digital Assets Solutions Industry Working Group.

DTS is integrated with the Canton Network and DTCC’s private Besu network, with more blockchain networks due to be added in 2027. Named partners include BitGo, Fireblocks, Ondo, Talos, Taurus, Tradeweb and Virtu.

The launch follows a December 2025 SEC no-action letter covering Russell 1000 constituents, index ETFs and U.S. Treasuries. About seven months later, DTCC and more than 30 firms completed initial limited-production trades. In 2025, DTCC subsidiaries processed $4.7 quadrillion in securities transactions.

For crypto, the signal is that the infrastructure of traditional markets is moving onchain, led by the institution at the center of U.S. securities settlement.
