Ether trades below its 50-day EMA near $2,495 while most top coins fall

Ether Stays Below Its 50-Day EMA as 17 of the Top 20 Coins Trade Lower

Ether is bouncing, but its chart is not yet repaired. According to The Crypto Basic, ETH closed October 15 at $2,439.39, up 0.86%, after trading between $2,313.42 and $2,464.54. It remains below its 50-day EMA at $2,494.63 and its 20-day EMA at $2,549.55, and both averages are still declining. CoinGecko showed ether near $2,435, up 3.12% over 24 hours.

The bounce followed a rough session. CryptoTicker reported ether at $2,380, down 5.41% in 24 hours, after the $2,400 level broke to the downside. Its count found 17 of the 20 largest non-stablecoin assets lower on the day, with ether falling about twice as much as bitcoin. Ether was down 7.16% over seven days and sits roughly 52% below its August 2025 high of $4,946.05. CryptoTicker noted that price data alone cannot confirm the cause of the broad decline and that it cannot predict how long it will last.

Key levels from The Crypto Basic: resistance at $2,464.54, then the 50-day EMA near $2,495; a daily close above it targets $2,527–$2,550. A close below $2,401.68 would weaken the recovery, and a close below $2,313.42 would invalidate it. This is not financial advice.
