Aave V4 Goes Live on Circle Arc as Labs Proposes Custodied Bitcoin Lending

Aave V4 went live on Circle’s Arc network on September 19, 2026, supporting USDC, EURC, cirBTC and WETH. The deployment uses the protocol’s hub-and-spoke architecture, which is designed to reduce liquidity fragmentation, and marks a push into regulated institutional finance.

On the same day, Aave Labs put forward a proposal that would let institutions borrow against Bitcoin held in regulated custody at Anchorage Digital Bank. The model uses non-transferable tokens synced through Chainlink to represent custodied balances on-chain, aiming to remove a key barrier to institutional DeFi participation. As a proposal, it still needs to go through governance before any implementation.

Aave’s roadmap includes a dedicated RWA Hub on Avalanche for tokenized real-world assets, although no date has been given, as well as a consumer-facing Aave App. The project has also outlined an Aave Will Win framework that would direct 100 percent of protocol revenue to the DAO treasury.

From a market perspective, AAVE traded around 137 dollars, up close to 4 percent in 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap data on the update. Traders are watching for a breakout from the roughly 122 to 140 dollar range.

The main items to follow are the governance vote on custodied Bitcoin lending and the growth of V4 liquidity on Arc, which will show how quickly institutional demand materializes.
